To ensure consistency and integrity of the logo, no
Church Recognised
or
Other Organisation
will be permitted to produce its own WYD08 merchandise or WYD08 branded products, except in the following limited circumstances:
- Church recognised organisations may, with prior WYD08 approval, produce T shirts for identification of their group of pilgrims travelling to Sydney
- Church recognised organisations may, with prior WYD08 approval, arrange for the production of banners and flags for identification of their group travelling to Sydney
It will be a condition of the approval, that the
WYD08 Guidelines for production of T shirts, banners and flags
be observed by the selected manufacturer/supplier.
A Church recognised organisation is not permitted, under any circumstances, to fundraise for WYD08 by selling any item that it has produced under either exception. All branded materials to be used for fundraising purposes must be sourced from the WYD08 shop.
All production of WYD08 merchandise and branded products for sale purposes will occur via official licensees.
Apart from the 2 exceptions, this means that no organisation is permitted to produce their own merchandise or WYD08 branded items. These items must be purchased through the WYD08 shop, or via the fundraising section of the shop if you are an approved WYD08 fundraiser.

Special arrangements for certain countries
WYD08 recognises that certain countries may require additional assistance in raising funds to attend the 2008 World Youth Day in Sydney.
In the case of these countries, which have been determined by the Pontifical Council for the Laity in Rome, WYD08 will have a more flexible approach in granting fundraising approval and the application of these principles.
Applicants from these nations will be eligible for more favourable pricing in terms of purchase of WYD08 fundraising merchandise, and, with our approval, may be permitted to produce their own merchandise rather than purchase from an authorised supplier.
Determination of eligibility for special provisions will be at the sole discretion of WYD08.
