World Youth Day 2008 unites with BridgeClimb Sydney and Taronga Zoo

World Youth Day Sydney 2008 (WYD08) organisers are excited to announce leading tourist attractions BridgeClimb Sydney and Taronga Zoo as official providers for the event.

With many VIPs, international religious leaders and pilgrims set to descend upon Sydney for WYD08, organisers hope to offer them not only a memorable WYD08 event, but also a chance to experience some of Sydney's leading attractions.

"We are delighted to link up with BridgeClimb and Taronga Zoo to showcase our magnificent city from its best vantage points and reveal the adventurous side of Sydney," said Mr Danny Casey, WYD08 Chief Operating Officer.

"We anticipate many visitors will take this unique opportunity to climb one of the world's most renowned architectural icons, the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and to visit our stunning harbourside zoo," he said.

Registered pilgrims who climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge between Sunday 6 July 2008 and Sunday 27 July 2008 will receive a BridgeClimb souvenir Climber cap.

"It's an honour to be involved in such an internationally significant event," said BridgeClimb's Managing Director Todd Coates.

"BridgeClimb looks forward to welcoming the youth of the world to Sydney," he said.

Taronga Zoo is also offering registered pilgrims half price general admission tickets.

"We are immensely proud to open our doors to the world's youth and showcase the rich diversity of the largest native and exotic animal collection in New South Wales," said Taronga Zoo's Acting GM Marketing, Fundraising and Development, Annette Stevens.

More information on pilgrim offers will be available soon on the WYD08 website www.wyd2008.org .

Sydney will host the 23rd World Youth Day from 15 - 20 July this year. Organised by the Catholic Church but open to all, the event will mark the first visit of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to Australia.
